Oil painting on Clayboard, which dries super fast. In fact, I painted alla prima, and then added to it after it had dried, all in one day. This is an advantage if you like to work fast, and I think it makes it easier not to muddy the colours. Clayboard is also good for scratching into, etc. I tried this with the background, and like the texture and sense of movement. Then tried a second painting on Gessoboard (also by Ampersand, and more suited to oil), but it’s not dry yet, and photo will have to wait.
