Sketching the Line 2017

Some weeks ago, a few of us from the Willowdale Group of Artists (willowdaleartists.com) rode the TTC subway line in order to do some drawing for “Sketching the Line”, Toronto Transit’s annual competition and exhibition www.artintransit.ca/archives/pattison-outdoor-and-the-ttc-announce-call-for-submissions-for-sketching-the-line.html  .

I never realized how much fun it can be to sketch in public. I recommend going when it’s not too crowded, such as on a Sunday. Commuters are also more relaxed on weekends, and sometimes strike up conversation to see what I’m up to. What an enjoyable way to meet some fellow Torontonians, think a little about our wonderful city and its friendly folks, and develop some drawing skills at the same time!
